Why We Built This Site
Illinois keeps most jail and inmate information open to the public, yet the records are scattered across several agencies. The hard part is knowing which one holds the person you want. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office runs the local jail for pretrial and short-sentence custody, and in this county there is no online roster, so the route is a phone call and a records request. The Illinois Department of Corrections runs a separate locator for sentenced prisoners, including the Graham complex near Hillsboro. Federal and immigration detainees show up in still other systems. We gather those locators, contacts, visitation details, and request steps into one place so the path is clear from the start.
